Andy Inness Appointed First Team Coach

Jamie Chandler has moved to strengthen his backroom staff ahead of the 2023/24 campaign with the appointment of Andy Inness as the Club’s new First Team Coach.

Inness spent last season as Assistant Manager at Blyth Spartans, but he has now left that role at Croft Park in order to take up the opportunity to join Chandler’s coaching team at The Brewery Field.

Chandler has worked alongside Inness in the past with Moors’ Under-18s side and is thrilled that he will be reunited with him for the fresh National League North season.

“This is a brilliant addition for our Football Club,” Moors boss Chandler told us.

“Andy is someone I hold in the highest regard as both a coach and as a person so I am really pleased he’s going to be part of the staff here.

“We have kept in touch over the past few years since working together with the Club’s Under-18s and I have no doubt that the players will respect him and will love working with him.

“He adds to an already strong management team, and I can’t wait to work alongside him to see what he will bring to the group moving forward.”

Inness, who will continue in his full-time role as Academy Manager at South Shields, knows that it is a positive time to be arriving at The Brewery Field with big ambitions for 2023/24.

“It’s a really exciting period for the Club and I am so pleased to be part of it,” Inness explained.

“We’ve got an all-new management team now so you could say it’s the start of a new era for Spennymoor Town so, once I spoke to Jamie, I didn’t take a lot of convincing to come and join the Club.

“I have a lot of respect for Jamie and for Lewis Dickman, who are people I have known for a long time so it’s going to be really enjoyable to get the opportunity to work with them.

“I know the Club has done well to tie down some of the existing players who form the nucleus of an already strong squad but there are plenty of irons in the fire and we’re looking to bring young, fresh and hungry players to add intensity and energy to the group.”
