Moors’ Over 60s Walking Football Team will be looking the part on the pitch during 2023/24 after Treadmark Tyres agreed to become their official front of shirt sponsor.
The team was established last summer and finished in a respectable sixth position during their first season in the Durham County FA Over 60s League as they competed against some of the top sides from across the region.
Now the flourishing initiative has been given a platform to continue improving thanks to Treadmark Tyres who are now only supporting the Walking Football Team but also the numerous casual sessions hosted by Moors in the Community.
The extra backing from Treadmark Tyres will allow participants to have access to the very best in equipment at every session, which are delivered by Moors in the Community volunteers Brian Shippen and Gary Watson.
“I have been absolutely overwhelmed by how quickly our Walking Football Team has taken off and the support from Treadmark Tyres will help take us to the next level,” admitted Moors’ Community Development Manager Luke Cowie.
“This project was always something I wanted to get up and running but the backing we’ve received from Treadmark Tyres along with the work from Brian and Gary means we have a really thriving Walking Football Team that everyone connected with the Club is proud of.
“They had a great first season and now we’re hopeful they can keep on going from strength to strength and have an even better 2023/24.”
If you’re interested in getting involved with our Over 60s Walking Football Team, then our sessions take place on the 3G pitch at Active Life in Coxhoe (DH6 4DW) every Tuesday and Saturday between 10am and 11am. The cost is just £3 per session.
