Jamie Chandler has completed his seventh signing of the summer following the capture of highly rated front man Owen Gallacher on a permanent deal.
The 24-year-old spent last season playing in the EFL with Grimsby Town, but Moors boss Chandler moved swiftly to bring him back to his native North East following his departure from Blundell Park.
Gallacher spent time with both Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest during his youth before a spell on loan with Harrogate Town was followed by a permanent switch to Burton Albion in 2020.
A former Scotland youth international, Gallacher moved on to Crawley Town in 2021 where he stayed for two seasons, during which he also enjoyed a loan spell with Gateshead.
The pacy forward was on Moors’ radar in January but he was snapped up by Grimsby on a deal which ran until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
“We’re delighted to bring Owen to the Club,” said Chandler.
“He’s got good experience for his age and some experience in the EFL too, which is important.
I have spoken to a number of people who have worked with Owen and his application, attitude and character were among the first things they talked about, so he ticks all of those boxes.
He will bring a real intensity off the ball but when he’s in possession he’s lightning quick. He likes to play on the shoulder and he’s very direct.
That’s the type of player we want. We want people to be fearless on the pitch, be positive and go and create chances so I think Owen will be an exciting one for the fans to watch this season.”
Gallacher has been handed squad number 23 and his move to The Brewery Field is subject to the usual clearance from The Football Association and National League.
