Fan Engagement Arrangements Confirmed

The Club is pleased to confirm its arrangements for formal fan engagement with immediate effect.

Around 20 fans met with Managing Director Ian Geldard in June to set out plans for an independent, fan-led group to work closely with the Football Club.

The Spennymoor Town FC Fans Group will be an inclusive group of fans wishing to volunteer their time and energy towards fundraising for all aspects of the Club, organising sustainable Away Travel in partnership with the Club, and providing opportunities for fan consultation by the Club.

“It was great to meet with a really enthusiastic group of Moors fans who are willing to get mucked in with our aim to operate as a sustainable community club, doing so much more than First Team football,” Geldard explained.

“The Club has hugely evolved over recent years to include a Youth set-up of over 300 kids, a fully-fledged community programme in Moors in the Community, and a successful Ladies Team which is now playing in the NERWFL Premier Division.

“Our fan base has evolved too. Therefore, it is important we bring them along with us, which is why I am so excited about the plans of the STFC Fans Group as they aim to fundraise towards everything we do – not just the First Team alone.

“They have a modern approach planned for this which will be a breath of fresh air to the Club.”

The Fans Group will officially launch on Super Saturday 15th July, with a stall at The Brewery Field for our football extravaganza which includes friendly contests against Newcastle United U21s and Hebburn Town, as well as an exhibition match between the 2013 FA Vase Final teams.

The Fans Group are also looking for volunteers to give up one hour at any home game, once a season, in order to sell half-time draw tickets from a designated stall.

There are no membership requirements or fee to join the STFC Fans Group. If you’re interested in joining or getting involved, then you can contact them via email [email protected], on Twitter via @stfcfg23 and on Instagram @stfcfg23
