Holiday Camp Proves Big Hit

Moors in the Community hosted its first football-specific Holiday Camp for children in Spennymoor and the surrounding areas last week – and it proved a massive success!

The Camp was completely sold out across all three days when youngsters were given the opportunity to improve their footballing skills, socialise with friends and compete in many tournament-style games.

There were even some surprises for the kids as Men’s Assistant Manager Lewis Dickman and players Ben Pollock and Rob Ramshaw turned up to join in, while Ladies Team players Meg Foster, Lily Jackson, Beth Enguita, Coral Colledge and Holly Middleton all spent time there too!

Those who attended the Wednesday session were also treated to a McDonald’s lunch thanks to our amazing ongoing partnership with the fast-food giants.

“We’ve hosted a few Holiday Camps now, but this is the first time its fully centred around the football and the feedback we have had has been brilliant,” said Luke Cowie, Moors’ Community Development Manager.

“To have sell-out attendances on all three days tells me we continue to get things right and it makes me so proud that we’re able to provide this service for so many youngsters in our local area.

“A big thank you has to go to Tudhoe Community Centre for allowing us to host the Holiday Camp there and, of course, to our fantastic headline sponsor Esh Construction whose support is invaluable to us.”

Moors in the Community’s summer activity doesn’t stop there because there is another Holiday Camp coming up at the end of the month for youngsters to get involved in.

This Camp will run on Tuesday 22nd August, Wednesday 23rd August and Friday 25th August, and will focus on multi-sports skills, as well as arts and crafts – and children who come along can look forward to more appearances from Men’s and Ladies Team players too!
