We bring you the full lowdown as Moors prepare to play host to Southport in National League North at The Brewery Field on Tuesday evening.
Spennymoor Town v Southport
National League North
Tuesday 15th August 2023, 7.45pm
The Brewery Field
The Opposition
Southport will be keen to get their season on track when they make the trip to The Brewery Field this evening after tasting defeat in each of their first two outings in 2023/24.
Indeed, Liam Watson’s men are seeking to put an end to a run of ten consecutive defeats which run back through the end of the last campaign.
Their opening day 4-0 defeat at home to newly promoted Warrington Town was a particular blow but Watson’s experience could be vital as they look to bounce back to form during the coming weeks.
Previous Meeting
Moors ran out 3-1 winners when the sides met at Haig Avenue back in April as Jason Ainsley’s men kept alive their hopes of snatching a National League North play-off place.
Glen Taylor got things up and running for Moors with a goal late in the first half before a quickfire double from Paul Blackett rendered Chris Doyle’s strike mere consolation for the hosts.
Team News
Jamie Chandler has no new injury concerns ahead of this evening’s game against Southport, with Owen Gallacher the only player missing through injury.
