Spennymoor Town v Bishop’s Stortford
National League North
Saturday 26th August 2023, 1pm
The Brewery Field

The Opposition
Bishop’s Stortford claimed their place in National League North after lifting the Pitching In Isthmian League Premier Division title in 2022/23.

Steve Smith’s side held off competitive from Hornchurch and Canvey Island to clinch automatic promotion and the club is ambitious to prosper at the higher level too now.

Their elevation to the sixth tier is seen as their biggest achievement since winning the FA Trophy 29 years ago and was secured thanks to a 2-2 draw with Aveley on Tuesday 18th April.

The Blues enjoyed an eye-catching opening day win over fancied Chester but they arrive at The Brewery Field this weekend on the back of consecutive defeats to Brackley Town and Farsley Celtic.

Previous Meeting
Saturday’s game will be the first ever competitive meeting between the two clubs.

Team News
Michael Ledger will be assessed after he was taken off during the second half of last Saturday’s win at Peterborough Sports with a slight hamstring problem.

Match Officials
Lewis Dawson will be on the whistle for Saturday’s early kick-off at The Brewery Field, and he will be assisted by Scott Henry and Ben Schofield.
