Preview: Moors v Chester

We turn the spotlight on Saturday’s National League North action as Chester form the opposition for Moors at The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v Chester
National League North
Saturday 2nd September 2023, 3pm
The Brewery Field

The Opposition
Calum McIntyre enjoyed a wonderful first season in charge at Chester last term, which almost took them all the way to promotion back to the National League.

The Blues finished third in National League North and boasted one of the meanest defences in the division before being beaten by Brackley Town.

McIntyre’s men have had a mixed start to 2023/24, picking up seven points from nine on home soil but tasting defeat on each of their three away trips so far.

However, they arrive at The Brewery Field on the back of a solid 2-0 win over Farsley Celtic on Bank Holiday and will hope to build on that when they land in County Durham.

Previous Meeting
Moors were the team to end Chester’s long unbeaten run last season when they enjoyed a wonderful 3-0 victory at The Deva Stadium in February.

That was the perfect way for Moors to avenge Chester’s 3-0 win when they had visited The Brewery Field in November 2022.

Team News
Mark Anderson will be missing after sustaining ankle ligament damage during Bank Holiday Monday’s game against Blyth Spartans.

Match Officials
Elliott Swallow will be the man in the middle for Chester’s visit to The Brewery Field, and he will be assisted by Aaron Hallam and Connor Everard.
