Jamie Chandler has moved to bolster his squad with the signing of Stockport County youngster Joshua Popoola on a one-month loan deal.
The highly rated wing-back spent seven years on the books at Watford in his youth before re-emerging at Bournemouth where his performances earned him a first professional contract.
Having been released at The Cherries at the end of last term, Popoola was snapped up by Stockport where he made his senior debut in their Papa John’s Trophy game against Manchester United Under-21s last week.
Hatters boss Dave Challinor has now given the green light for Popoola to gain further First Team experience from a spell out on loan and Moors moved quickly to bring him to the North East.
“I’m delighted we’ve signed Joshua – he’s a really exciting addition and a top talent,” said Chandler.
“He is quick, direct and something a little bit different to what we currently have in the squad.
“Joshua can play in a number of different position and has had a great grounding with Bournemouth and now Stockport.
“We know he played in their game recently, so he’s match fit, ready to go and we’re looking forward to working with him and developing him during his time in a Spennymoor shirt.”
The 19-year-old has been handed squad number 2 and will now go into contention to make his debut for Moors when Chester visit The Brewery Field in National League North on Saturday.
