Preview: Moors v Rushall Olympic

We turn our attentions to the weekend’s action with our comprehensive preview of Rushall Olympic’s National League North visit to The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v Rushall Olympic
National League North
Saturday 7th October 2023, 3pm
The Brewery Field

The Opposition
Rushall Olympic are showing positive signs of settling into their new environment after winning promotion to National League North for the first time in the club’s history last term.

The Pics finished sixth in the Southern Premier League Central Division but emerged victorious from the play-offs after seeing off Coalville Town in the semi-finals before winning a dramatic penalty shootout against Nuneaton Borough in the Final.

Liam McDonald’s men suffered a tricky start to life at the higher level when they took just two points from their six league games during the opening month of the campaign.

However, they arrive at The Brewery Field this weekend having won three of their last four in National League North – though they will be keen to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing FA Cup exit at the hands of Boston United.

Previous Meeting
Moors were forced to share the points last time they welcomed Rushall Olympic to The Brewery Field back in April 2017.

Glen Taylor struck midway through the second half to put Moors one in front, but Lewis Probert levelled almost immediately for The Pics and the game ended 1-1.

Team News
Mark Anderson is stepping up his recovery from an ankle injury but Saturday will come too soon, while Michael Ledger is also building his fitness following hamstring trouble.

Match Officials
Shaun Taylor will be the man in the middle for Saturday’s encounter at The Brewery Field, and he will be assisted Waqar Ahmed and Connor Everard.

Fans of both sides can buy their ticket in advance online if preferred, while there will also be the function to buy via card or cash directly on the turnstiles prior to kick-off.
