We focus our attentions on the weekend action with a full and in-depth preview of Moors’ National League North trip to Brackley Town.
Brackley Town v Spennymoor Town
National League North
Saturday 14th October 2023, 3pm
St James Park
The Opposition
Brackley Town currently sit 10th in National League North but will be keen to return to winning ways this weekend after a run of three consecutive league defeats.
The sequence included their first home reverse of the season against Curzon Ashton at the end of last month in between losses at Scarborough Athletic and Scunthorpe United.
The Saints also suffered disappointment in the FA Cup when they were beaten 3-2 in dramatic circumstances at Braintree Town despite leading 2-0 with 20 minutes remaining.
Brackley finished fourth last term and were on the brink of promotion before being beaten 2-0 by Kidderminster Harriers in the Play-Off Final.
Previous Meeting
Brackley had the edge over Moors last season, having run out 2-1 winners on their own patch in December before taking a point from their trip to The Brewery Field back in March.
Moors had led through Tom Allan in the game at St James Park, but things took a turn when James Curtis was shown a red card, and the hosts came back to claim three points.
Brackley were in front during the early stages of the Brewery Field meeting but Joe Tait’s wonderful free-kick brought Moors level on the stroke of half time.
Team News
Mark Anderson is making good progress on his recovery from an ankle injury but is not ready for a return just yet, while fellow midfielder Danny Greenfield is also sidelined with an ankle problem.
