Preview: Darlington v Moors

We focus our attentions on the weekend action with a full and in-depth preview of Moors’ National League North trip to Darlington.

Darlington v Spennymoor Town
National League North
Saturday 28th October 2023, 3pm
Blackwell Meadows

The Opposition
Darlington fans have endured a testing opening three months of the new campaign and they come into Saturday’s meeting with Moors sitting bottom of the National League North table.

Their struggles at the start of the new season saw them part company with boss Alun Armstrong at the beginning of September and former Hereford manager Josh Gowling was selected as his replacement.

Gowling has set about reshaping the squad at Blackwell Meadows in a bid to jumpstart The Quakers’ form and he will be hoping their battling 0-0 draw with Blyth Spartans in midweek can provide a platform for improvement.

Previous Meeting
Moors were beaten 3-2 on their last trip to Blackwell Meadows in January, despite taking an early lead through James Curtis’ close-range finish.

Jack Lambert levelled and then a double from Jacob Hazell put The Quakers in the driving seat before Connor Shanks came off the bench to score on his debut to reduce the arrears.

Team News
Danny Greenfield made his return from injury as a substitute at Scunthorpe United in midweek, while Mark Anderson is also back in the squad following ankle trouble.

Match Officials
Helen Conley will be on the whistle for Saturday’s encounter at Blackwell Meadows, and she will be assisted by Sean Jenkins and Michael Burrows.

Tickets
Moors fans are being encouraged to buy their tickets online in advance, if possible, though there will also be cash and card sales available on the day prior to kick-off.
