Players, officials, staff and supporters from Spennymoor Town and Boston United came together at The Brewery Field on Saturday to pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed.
The weekend meeting with The Pilgrims was our designated fixture to pay our respects ahead of Remembrance Day next week and we once again invited 8th Battalion The Rifles to help with our activity.
Major Bob Towers was joined by Moors’ Managing Director Ian Geldard and Boston United’s Chairman David Newton in laying wreaths in the centre circle ahead of kick-off.
The Last Post was then performed on the bugle by Rifleman Redshaw before an impeccably observed minute’s silence was brought to a close by the Last Post’s reveille.
“We would like to thank supporters of both clubs for their help in ensuring it was another poignant tribute at The Brewery Field,” said Geldard.
“It’s important that we all show our respects to those who served and sacrificed, particularly at this time of year, so we’re grateful to those at 8th Battalion The Rifles for once again coming along to support our activity.”
