Moors Ladies will return to NERWFL Premier Division action on Sunday when they make one of their longest trips of the season to take on Hull United (2pm kick-off).
After the drama and excitement of a wonderful FA Cup run, Billy Shackleton’s side must now refocus on their league ambitions on Humberside at the weekend.
Moors came out on top in astonishing circumstances when the sides met at The Brewery Field in the first month of the season when Alice Welch-Davison’s incredible injury-time double clinched victory from the jaws of defeat.
Shackleton’s outfit currently sit fourth in the division and will hope to close the gap on the sides above them on Sunday, but they know they can’t take anything for granted against Hull, who currently occupy second-bottom spot.
“We’ve had one positive result against Hull this season and it’s important we try to repeat that this weekend,” said Shackleton.
“Looking at the league table, we’ve had different campaigns so far, but that means nothing when the girls are on the pitch, and we know that anyone can beat anyone in this division.
“It won’t be easy to get a result and we will need to be at our best on Sunday.”
New signing Abi Kisby, who performed encouragingly on her debut in the FA Cup at Chester-le-Street Town last weekend, is unavailable to face Hull on Sunday.
However, Beth Enguita and Shannon Reed are both making good progress in their battles to return from injuries, and it’s hoped they can be back in contention sooner rather than later.
Sunday’s game is a 2pm kick-off and will take place at Haworth Park in Hull where fans can travel and watch or keep up to date on the Moors Ladies’ social media channels.
