Preview: Moors v Scarborough Athletic

We turn our attentions to the weekend’s action with our comprehensive preview of Scarborough Athletic’s National League North visit to The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v Scarborough Athletic
National League North
Saturday 2nd December 2023, 3pm
The Brewery Field

The Opposition
A good run of form has pushed Scarborough Athletic to the fringe of the play-off places in National League North ahead of their visit to The Brewery Field this weekend.

Indeed, Jonathan Greening’s men could have forced their way into the top seven in midweek but were beaten 3-1 at Hereford to end a run of two successive victories.

The Seadogs finished eighth last term, narrowly missing out on the play-offs during a frantic final day which went right down to the wire, and they’ll be hoping to be in contention again this time around.

Confidence should still remain high in the Scarborough camp despite Tuesday’s defeat with the team having thumped Bishop’s Stortford 5-0 on home soil last weekend.

Previous Meeting
Both games between the sides in National League North last term finished in 2-2 draws.

Moors came from two goals down to take a point at The Flamingo Land Stadium, before Connor Shanks last minute goal earned a draw when The Seadogs made the journey to County Durham.

Team News
James Curtis will be available for selection this weekend after the Club Captain missed the trip to Gloucester City through suspension following his red card against Mickleover.

James Montgomery was back on the bench last weekend after a foot problem, while Rob Ramshaw (calf) and Glen Taylor (thigh) will also be hoping to return to contention.

Match Officials
Harry Jones will be the man in charge of Saturday’s game at The Brewery Field, and he will be assisted by Bradley Maw and Drew Dutton.

Tickets
Saturday’s game against Scarborough Athletic is segregated.

Both sets of supporters can buy tickets online in advance, but Scarborough supporters must enter via Turnstiles 1 and 2 on the Tees Crescent side of the stadium.
