Congratulations to Moors youngsters Ashton Houlahan and Ryan Johnson who have been selected as part of England Schoolboys’ Under-18s squad for the 2023/24 campaign.
The England Schools Football Association named an 18-man squad on Monday after a series of training camps and midfielder Houlahan and goalkeeper Johnson have both made the cut.
The final England U18 Schoolboys’ Pro-Direct trial took place in Birmingham over the weekend, with Houlahan and Johnson both coming through a rigorous selection process which began in October.
Players from across the country were nominated by their County Secretaries to attend regional trials, which led to the construction of four regional squads.
These groups of players went head-to-head in step two of the trials process to form the North and South squad which attended Castle Vale in Birmingham on Sunday.
Making the final stage of the trials was a huge achievement and huge congratulations must go to Houlahan and Johnson who will now link-up their England Schoolboy teammates for a training camp in February.
They will then compete in the SAFIB Centenary Shield, with games being played between February and April with the home nations competing for the prestigious trophy which was shared by England and Northern Ireland in 2022/23.
