Preview: Moors v Brackley Town

We turn our attentions to Saturday’s action with our comprehensive preview of Brackley Town’s National League North visit to The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v Brackley Town
National League North
Saturday 6th January 2024, 3pm
The Brewery Field

The Opposition
Brackley Town will aim to build on their festive double over Banbury United when they make the long trip to face Moors at The Brewery Field this weekend.

Gavin Cowan’s side had fallen off the pace a little in their challenge for a play-off spot when they lost three National League North games in a row before Christmas.

However, six points from six in their games against The Puritans has put them back on track and they arrive in County Durham this weekend sitting in eighth position in the table.

The Saints reached the Play-Off Final last season as they ended 2023/24 under the interim charge of skipper Gareth Dean before former AFC Telford United boss Cowan arrived to take charge in the summer.

Previous Meeting
Moors suffered defeat when they made the trip to Brackley Town back in October as the hosts raced into a three-goal lead inside 25 forgettable minutes at St James Park.

Rob Ramshaw did manage to pull one back in the early stages of the second half, but the damage was already done, and Moors came away empty-handed.

Team News
New boss Graeme Lee will assess the fitness of front man Glen Taylor after he missed out on the abandoned game at Chorley with a knee injury.

Loan man Emmanuel Ilesanmi, who has joined the Club from Barnsley, could be in line for his home debut against The Saints after featuring at Victory Park last Saturday.

Match Officials
Gareth Thomas will be the man in the middle for Saturday’s National League North encounter, and he will be assisted by Aaron Hallam and Drew Dutton.

Thomas last oversaw a Moors fixture when he was on the whistle for our goalless draw with Farsley Celtic at The Citadel back in November.
