Graeme Lee has completed his second signing as Moors boss after making a move for exciting attacker Donald Chimalilo following his departure from Marske United.
The 23-year-old had been one of the standout performers for Marske during Lee’s spell at the helm and he’s moved quickly to bring the talented forward to The Brewery Field.
Chimalilo was nurtured by the i2i Academy in York during his early years before being picked up by Scarborough Athletic only for injuries and the COVID-19 pandemic to limit his appearances for The Seadogs.
An impressive pre-season trial at Guiseley during which he scored twice in three games earned him a deal with The Lions before he was lured to Marske in November 2022.
Initially signed by then boss Curtis Woodhouse, Chimalilo has become a big favourite with Seasiders supporters where he showed great progress under the management of Lee and Ian Clark.
Affectionately known as DC, the Zambian-born attacker is always positive in possession and helped himself to six goals in 23 appearances for Marske this season.
“It’s great to get DC signed up and ready to go,” said Lee.
“He’s a very exciting attacking player who has the ability to create opportunities out of nothing so we’re really looking forward to having him involved.
“He receives the ball really well, carries it very effectively and he’s also added more end product which has really brought his game on again.”
Chimalilo has been handed the number 17 shirt at The Brewery Field and will go straight into contention to make his Moors debut in Saturday’s game at Rushall Olympic.
