Spennymoor Town is hatching ambitious plans to expand its women’s football section to attract the next generation of female talent to The Brewery Field.
The Club set up their current Moors Ladies First Team back in 2019 but they have made incredible strides since then to take up a place in the North East Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division this season.
Now plans are being put in place to ensure that upward trajectory can continue with the announcement of our intent to for Ladies’ Under-18s and Reserve Teams.
“Our female football section has been going from strength-to-strength over the last five years and we’re proud of the progress we’ve made,” said Moors’ Managing Director, Ian Geldard.
“The appetite for women’s football in this town and indeed across the country is very clear and want to make sure that Spennymoor Town continues to offer the platform for females to play and prosper.
“Our plans to form an Under-18s and a Reserve Team underlines our commitment to women’s football at the Club, but also provides a clear pathway for young girls who aspire to become footballers.
“We’ve enjoyed the success that Moors Ladies have had in recent seasons, but the bigger picture is about us looking to gain a reputation for developing young talent and encouraging more local females to get involved in the game we all love.”
As a result of the plans, we are now welcoming interest from girls of any age who are looking to join our ambitious Club and potentially become the next generation of Moors Ladies!
