Preview: Chester v Moors

We turn the focus on Saturday’s action with a full and in-depth preview of Moors’ National League North visit to The Deva Stadium.

Chester v Spennymoor Town
National League North
Saturday 24th February 2024, 3pm
The Deva Stadium

The Opposition
High-flying Chester will be bidding to extend their unbeaten run to nine games when they welcome Moors to The Deva Stadium this weekend.

The Blues currently lie fourth in the National League North table, having won consecutive games against Scarborough Athletic and Farsley Celtic before Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Hereford.

Calum McIntyre’s side have been in solid form since the end of January when they brushed off a sequence of three defeats in four to get back to their best during their recent run of eight unbeaten.

A strong defensive record has been the platform their success this term, highlighted by the fact that only runaway leaders Tamworth have conceded fewer in the league in 2023/24.

Previous Meeting
Will Harris rescued a point for Moors when Chester visited The Brewery Field in National League North back at the beginning of September.

The visitors had stolen what looked likely to be a decisive lead on 74 minutes through Charlie Caton, but Harris struck three minutes from the end to ensure a share of the spoils.

Team News
Callum Ross remains a doubt for Moors as he nurses a hamstring strain picked up in the game at Chorley, while Glen Taylor is still sidelined after undergoing knee surgery.

Match Officials
Melissa Burgin will take charge of her first Moors game this weekend when she is on the whistle for our National League North trip to Chester. She will be assisted by Joel Buckle and Jordan Brooks.
