We turn our attentions to Tuesday evening’s action with a full and in-depth preview of Alfreton Town’s National League North visit to The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v Alfreton Town
National League North
Tuesday 5th March 2024, 7.45pm
The Brewery Field

The Opposition
Alfreton Town remain in the National League North play-off positions ahead of this evening’s game despite losing some ground due to their game against Gloucester City being postponed on Saturday.

The Reds are sixth in the table and on a decent run of form having lost once in their last six outings – and that was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of promotion-chasing Scunthorpe United.

Billy Heath’s men still have games in hand on most of the teams around them and will hope to make the play-offs for a second season in succession and then go one better than last term having been knocked out in the semi-finals by Kidderminster Harriers.

Previous Meeting
This is the first time the two teams have faced each other this season due to previous postponements and they will now play twice in the closing two months of the campaign.

The last meeting was at The Impact Arena in March 2023 when The Reds raced into a three-goal lead in the first half before Moors clawed two back through Paul Blackett after the break in a 3-2 defeat.

Team News
Moors will assess the fitness of defender Reece Staunton after he missed Saturday’s win at Boston United with a hamstring problem sustained during the trip to Bishop’s Stortford.

Front man Glen Taylor is nearing fitness after a knee operation, while midfielder Callum Ross is also looking to push himself towards a return following his hamstring issue.

Match Officials
Lee Hible will be the man in the middle for Tuesday evening’s encounter with Alfreton Town, and he will be assisted by Matthew Morton and Kieran Downey.
