Preview: Curzon Ashton v Moors

We turn the focus on Saturday’s action with a full and in-depth preview of Moors’ National League North visit to Tameside Stadium.

Curzon Ashton v Spennymoor Town
National League North
Saturday 16th March 2024, 3pm
Tameside Stadium

The Opposition
Curzon Ashton enjoyed an excellent away win at Scarborough Athletic in midweek to strengthen their challenge for a play-off place in National League North.

The Nash currently sit seventh in a congested table but have shown signs of getting back to their best form this month after a run of four games without a victory during February.

While results at Tameside Stadium have been mixed this term, Craig Mahon’s side have three of their next four fixtures on home soil so it could prove to be a potentially crucial period.

Having finished 13th last season, it looks certain that they will register big progress in 2023/24 and fans will hope they can now maintain their form and clinch a place in the play-offs.

Previous Meeting
Curzon Ashton came from behind to claim all three points when the sides met at The Brewery Field back in November.

Moors had led thanks to Mark Anderson’s early goal and looked like taking victory only for The Nash to score twice in the final 15 minutes to turn the game on its head.

Team News
John Lufudu will begin a two-game suspension after reaching 10 yellow cards for the season, while Lebrun Mbeka will be assessed after being forced him off during last Saturday’s win over Darlington.

Front man Glen Taylor is continuing to make good progress in his recovery from knee surgery.

Match Officials
Jonathan Chadwick will be the man in the middle for Saturday’s encounter at Tameside Stadium, and he will be assisted by Alexander Perkin and Daniel Clenton.
