We turn our attentions to Saturday afternoon’s action with a full and in-depth preview of Gloucester City’s National League North visit to The Brewery Field.
Spennymoor Town v Gloucester City
National League North
Saturday 23rd March 2024, 3pm
The Brewery Field
The Opposition
Gloucester City arrive at The Brewery Field this weekend on the back of a confidence-boosting away win that has given them hope in their battle for National League North survival.
The Tigers still lie second bottom in the table and 11 points adrift of safety, but their eye-catching 2-1 victory at Warrington Town showed that they have not given up the fight.
Mike Cook’s men also defeated Scarborough Athletic 1-0 on home soil at the end of February before a shock 7-3 home defeat to Boston United was followed-up by a loss to leaders Tamworth.
Previous Meeting
Moors suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat when the sides met at The TigerTurf Stadium back in November as the home side collected three well deserved points.
The hosts raced into a three-goal lead before second half strikes from Mark Anderson and Ben Hockenhull gave hope of a comeback only for Liam Cross’ last-minute effort to secure the win.
Team News
John Lufudu remains unavailable for selection as the defender completes a two-game suspension after picking up his tenth yellow card of the season.
Front man Glen Taylor is pushing for a starting spot after making his return to action after knee surgery as a substitute in last weekend’s win at Curzon Ashton.
Match Officials
Robert Claussen will be the man in the middle for Saturday’s game against Gloucester City, and he will be assisted by Stephen Birkett and Jonathan Gill.
