Will Harris was on target for Moors as they came from behind to secure a precious point against Scarborough Athletic in windy conditions at The Flamingo Land Stadium.
The front man finished neatly from close range to bring Graeme Lee’s men back on level terms just after the hour to cancel out Finley Barnes’ opener for the hosts.
Lee made one change to his starting line-up, as Michael Ledger replaced John Lufudu at right-back. Matty Dolan shook off an injury to take his place in the heart of midfield.
Moors almost opened the scoring inside 30 seconds when Rob Ramshaw set Corey McKeown away down the left, but his clipped effort hung on the wind before dropping over the bar.
However, it proved difficult for Moors to get on the front foot during a first half in which they were pinned back by the conditions as the wind blew directly in their faces.
Scarborough tried to make the most of that advantage but didn’t create too much to trouble Brad James before a cross from the right fell kindly for Barnes and he steered home a good finish into the bottom corner for 1-0 on 25 minutes.
Barnes could have doubled his tally just before the break when he was fed by Alex Purver, but this time the talented attacker struck a curling effort off target.
Lee’s side started the second half with the wind behind them and more purpose in their play, with McKeown prodding a shot on goal within five minutes of the restart which was held by Athletic keeper Ryan Whitley.
The hosts attempted to get forward themselves and Barnes was again at the heart of the danger when he saw a shot blocked wide after James had punched a left-wing corner clear to the edge of the box.
Lee took action on the hour, introducing Callum Ross and Isaac Fletcher from the bench – and it won instant reward. Ross drove in behind to find space on the right and his cross into the box was nodded down by Gary Liddle and forced home from close-range by Harris.
Harris could even have put Moors ahead a few minutes later when former Scarborough loan man Danny Greenfield whipped a cross in from the right which the front man brilliantly controlled, only to fire his shot too high on the turn.
Scarborough, to their credit, handled the conditions well in the second period and had efforts just wide from Luca Colville and Barnes as they looked to snatch the points near the end.
