The Club is delighted to announce that Glen Taylor has agreed a new contract to commit his future to Spennymoor Town until the end of the 2025/26 season.
As part of his fresh deal, the Club is also proud to grant Taylor a testimonial season to reward his long and remarkable service as he enters his tenth campaign at The Brewery Field.
Having arrived at Moors back in 2015, Taylor has gone on to become one of the most feared strikers in non-league football and boss Graeme Lee made it a summer priority to ensure the 33-year-old remained at the Club.
In 2022, Taylor etched his name in the history books when he scored his 140th Moors goal, climbing above fellow legend Gavin Cogdon to become our leading scorer of all-time.
He recently celebrated making his 350th appearance for the Club and such is the potency of his exploits in front of goal that he is now just 14 short of hitting the astonishing milestone of 200.
Taylor has won a host of awards over his time in black and white, and once again picked up the Golden Boot for 2023/24 having top scored despite being sidelined for a period following knee surgery.
“We’re absolutely delighted that we’ve got a deal done to keep Glen at the Club,” Moors boss Lee explained.
“His track record over the years is second to none at this level and I am really pleased that the negotiations to extend his contract have been done so swiftly.
“Glen is a huge player for us on the pitch with the number of goals he’s scored, but he’s just as important in terms of what he brings off the pitch with his professionalism and leadership.
“I am so happy that the Club will also be rewarding him for his brilliant service with a richly deserved testimonial which I know all of our supporters will get fully behind.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do this summer to build a squad capable of achieving our goals so having Glen Taylor at the heart of that once again will be massive for us.”
