Fans Asked To Help Shape Town Funding Plan

Moors fans are being asked to help shape the way £20million of government funding for Spennymoor is spent as part of the Long Term Plan for Towns Fund.

It was back in October 2023 that Spennymoor was identified as one of the beneficiaries of the government programme, which is designed to support sustainable growth, improve infrastructure and create thriving communities in towns.

The Club’s Managing Director, Ian Geldard, is to take up a seat on the newly formed Spennymoor Town Board, which will decide how to spend £20million of Government funding earmarked to develop the town over the next 10 years.

This funding must be used in line with a vision and investment plan for the town covering three broad themes:

  • High streets, heritage and regeneration
  • Transport and connectivity
  • Safety and security

The basis of the LTPT programme is that local people are at the heart of deciding what the town’s priorities are and to that end we are keen to ensure that everyone in Spennymoor has an opportunity to have their say on how this money should be spent.

As one of the biggest community and business organisations in the town, Spennymoor Town FC is proud to have been invited to contribute to the Long-Term Plan for Towns Programme.

The Board are keen to hear from as many people as possible to inform their decision making and have now produced a survey online to ensure that providing feedback is easy and straightforward.

We’re asking all supporters to share it with your family and friends so that as many views as possible are taken into consideration when it comes to this investment in our town.
