Moors in the Community are celebrating yet another hugely successful round of Holiday Camps after over 60 youngsters enjoyed three days of sport last week.
The popularity of our Holiday Camps, which run through each of the school holidays, has continued to grow as more and more local children get involved with the brilliant programme.
Last week’s event saw youngsters enjoy a variety of different sporting activities, with basketball introduced for the first time and proving a big hit with those in attendance at Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre.
“The three days were an absolute success from start to finish,” beamed Moors’ Community Sport Development Officer, Matty Arnell.
“We tried to mix things up a little bit with the different sport we laid on for the kids – I wasn’t sure how basketball would go down, but everyone loved it!
“I want to thank our team of Dan, Kai, Cory, Josh and Brandon who have just not been amazing throughout the Camps, but also in their help to me since I came into my new role.
“I also want to give a big shout out to our sponsors, Esh Construction, County Durham Community Foundation and McDonalds, as well as our hosts as Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre.
“With their help, we are able to continuously strive to improve our Holiday Camps and reach even more young people throughout the town and local community.”
Preparations are already underway for our next series of Holiday Camps which will take place at the end of July and throughout August.
