Moors Ladies have confirmed their second new signing of the summer, with the addition of highly rated Amy Elliot from Durham Cestria.
The versatile youngster, who is equally comfortable playing in defence or midfield, will join an already impressive squad ahead of Moors’ 2024/25 NERWFL Premier Division campaign.
A player who has starred for Durham at RTC level, as well as Cestria and Leeds Beckett University, Elliott can slot into roles anywhere across the back line or as a central midfielder.
“I’ve been following the progress of Spennymoor for a while now,” the 18-year-old told us.
“They’re a good Club with great ambition. When I spoke with Billy and his coaching team, they clearly have a vision here to consistently improve, and it’s an exciting time to join.
“I know a few of the girls here from playing with them at RTCs, and they’ve had nothing but positives to say about the Club.
“I know this is the sort of team I can develop at as a player within a club that is on the up, so this seems like the perfect situation for me.”
Having already drafted in exciting winger Jess Dawson last week, Shackleton is delighted with the progress being made as he looks to shape his squad for the fresh season.
“Amy is a great girl and the perfect player for what we are trying to achieve here,” he explained.
“We’ve said we want to be known as one of the best clubs in the Durham area and the way we are progressing shows that we are on the right track.
“Adding a player like Amy who can bring quality in a number of positions on the pitch is great news for us.
“I know some fans may have been concerned recently seeing some players leave – but replacing them with the likes of Amy and Jess shows that we are still moving in the right direction.”
