Fearne Brischuk Signs For Moors Ladies

Moors Ladies have continued to enhance their squad ahead of the new campaign with the signing of exciting youngster Fearne Brischuk.

The talented teenager becomes the first player to come through the newly established pathway for female footballers at The Brewery Field after trialling for the Club’s Reserves earlier this summer.

Brischuk doesn’t turn 16 until next month but has clearly impressed boss Billy Shackleton and his staff during pre-season having previously starred for Stockton Town and Teesside RTC at youth level.

An athletic performer with a physical edge to her game, the youngster is capable of slotting into a number of positions but is most at home at centre-back or in a sitting midfield role.

“I know I am a young player but playing at the senior level doesn’t faze me,” Brischuk insisted.

“The girls have been really good to me so far and I hope I am able to excite the fans by giving 100% every time I am on the pitch.

“I am really looking forward to the coming season and stepping up to enjoy my first taste of senior football because I feel that these players and management staff can really help develop my game.”

New Spennymoor Town Ladies signing Fearne Brischuk

Having won the Under-16 County Cup last season, Brischuk has now become Moors Ladies’ fourth signing of the summer as they look to build on their impressive debut season at NERWFL Premier Division level.

“Fearne signed-up to the trial sessions as a central midfielder but also slotted in at centre-back for the first game and I thought she was outstanding,” explained Shackleton.

“She won all of her duels, brought the ball out of defence and just seemed so calm and mature on the ball so she fits the Spennymoor mould perfectly.

“Having been training with the squad for a month, she’s shown she will be more than capable of playing in the Premier Division and her attitude to working hard has been excellent.

“I think she’s someone the fans will enjoy watching, she’ll be a huge addition to the group, and I think she’s got a very bright future in the game.”

Brischuk’s arrival marks another good bit of business for Moors after the eye-catching signings of Jess Dawson and Amy Elliott as well as the return of influential forward Caitlin Bates.
