Amy Richardson Signs For Moors Ladies

Moors Ladies have further bolstered their squad ahead of the new campaign with the eye-catching signing of talented central midfielder Amy Richardson.

A graduate of Sunderland’s Centre of Excellence, Richardson subsequently made her way through the ranks at Durham RTC before joining Durham Cestria.

Her ability to contribute defensively and offensively ensured she became a regular at senior level with Cestria and her arrival at The Brewery Field marks a significant coup for Billy Shackleton’s outfit.

“I am really happy to have joined Spennymoor,” Richardson told us.

“They’re a club that has been growing rapidly within the women’s game over the last few years and it’s an exciting time to be joining.

“They’re ambitious, they’re looking to push on to the next level and they’re a team on the up so I am pleased to be here and show what I can do.”

A hard-working midfielder who is composed and creative on the ball, Richardson has also gained a reputation for providing plenty of goals and assists.

“Amy is a great player and someone I have had my eye on for a while,” revealed boss Shackleton.

“She’s been training with us and straight away you can see her quality. The rest of the team have been really impressed with her – in fact, they have been bugging me to get her announced because they know how important she can be for us!

“She played at tier four as recently as last season, so she knows what is required as a player and a character, which is something she’s already showing.

“I knew we would have to move quickly when the opportunity arose to sign her early in pre-season and I feel like she can play a massive part for us in the year ahead.”
