Take a look at everything you need to know ahead of Tuesday evening’s encounter with Southport at The Brewery Field.
Spennymoor Town v Southport
National League North
Tuesday 20th August 2024, 7.45pm
The Brewery Field
The Opposition
Southport have made an encouraging start to the new campaign and are one of just five sides sitting at the top of National League North with a 100% record.
Jim Bentley’s men brushed fancied Alfreton Town aside 3-1 on home soil on the opening day before claiming an impressive 2-1 win at division new boys Needham Market at the weekend.
Having won five of their last 11 games last term to move clear of relegation danger, Southport fans will be growing optimistic that their side can challenge nearer the other end of the table during 2024/25.
Previous Meeting
Southport have won just one of the previous 13 meetings between the clubs and Moors completed a National League North double over The Port last term.
Moors ran out comfortable 5-1 winners at The Brewery Field last August thanks to goals from Rob Ramshaw (2), Glen Taylor (2) and Will Harris before strikes from Ben Pollock and Mikael Ndjoli secured a 2-1 triumph at Haig Avenue in February.
Match Officials
Thomas Wilson will be the man in the middle for Tuesday’s encounter with Southport, and he will be assisted by Stephen Birkett and Thomas James. Sam Bayley is Fourth Official.
