Moors in the Community have completed another round of hugely successful Holiday Camps with record numbers of young people attending four weeks of sessions over the summer.
An ambitious plan was hatched to host three sessions a week over a four-week period running from the end of July and through August – and local youngsters took advantage in high numbers.
Almost 100 children from Spennymoor and the surrounding area came along during the course of the Programme, making it the largest such event undertaken by the Club’s Moors in the Community organisation.
Based at Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre, the Holiday Camps provided the opportunity for young people to enjoy a variety of sports such as football, dodgeball, basketball and a range of Olympic themed challenges!
“We were absolutely overwhelmed by the response to our Summer Holiday Camps and they’ve once again so much fun for everyone involved,” said Matthew Arnell, the Club’s Community Sport Development Officer.
“Everything was planned out so well to keep it fresh for the kids and the staff we had working did an incredible job to make sure it was the best series of Holiday Camps we’ve ever laid on.
“I would like to thank Spennymoor Youth & Community Centre, as well as our partners at McDonald’s, Esh Construction and County Durham Community Foundation.
“We’re already looking ahead to our next round of Holiday Camps as well as working hard to grow our Friday Night Football project which is continuing to go from strength to strength.”
