We turn our attentions to Saturday’s National League North outing as Moors prepare for the trip to face Darlington at Blackwell Meadows.
Darlington v Spennymoor Town
National League North
Saturday 31st August 2024, 3pm
Blackwell Meadows
The Opposition
Darlington have had a mixed start to the new campaign and come into Saturday’s game at Blackwell Meadows sitting in 19th position in National League North.
Steve Watson’s men picked up their first win when they overcame Leamington 1-0 on home turf last Saturday and followed that up with a creditable draw away at Curzon Ashton on Bank Holiday Monday.
Watson oversaw an incredible turnaround in form for The Quakers last term as they drove well clear of relegation trouble despite looking in real peril at one stage.
Now the task is to get the team back challenging at the right end of the table and fans will be optimistic he can do that given the response he achieved last season.
Previous Meeting
Moors enjoyed a National League North double over Darlington last season, running out comfortable 2-1 winners at Blackwell Meadows last October thanks to goals from Danny Greenfield and Mark Anderson.
That was followed up by a 2-1 triumph on home soil back in March when Will Harris and Rob Ramshaw did the damage as Moors came from behind to win.
Match Officials
The man in the middle for Saturday’s game at Blackwell Meadows will be Robert Claussen, and he will be assisted by Liam Smith and Kieran Downey. Alex Clark will be the Fourth Official.
