Moors Academy will kick-off their National Football Youth League campaign when they host Wath Academy at The Brewery Field on Wednesday (1.30pm kick-off).
Matty Dolan will once again lead the young side during their Northern Division One season and will be in the dugout for the season opener on home turf.
There will be some decisions to make on the selection front with several of Dolan’s squad being involved with the First Team during their Durham Challenge Cup win over Durham FC Corinthians on Tuesday night.
However, there is excitement in the camp ahead of the big kick-off, especially after the encouraging manner in which the side finished last term.
“We’re really looking forward to getting going again and there is a real enthusiasm among the lads which is great to see,” Dolan told us.
“I thought we grew into last season after a tricky start and we had a fantastic unbeaten run towards the end of the year which gives us all confidence for what is to come.
“We’ve got a new intake of younger players coming into the group to complement the older ones now so it will take some time for them to blend as a team.
“However, there have been plenty of encouraging signs already and we’re excited to get into a match situation against a team who are new to the division and a bit of an unknown quantity.”
The game on Wednesday afternoon at The Brewery Field kicks-off at 1.30pm and supporters are encouraged to come along and support the lads. Admission is free.
