Plenty Of Positives In Cup Win – Clark

Ian Clark was delighted to take a number of positives from the performance as a young Moors side ran out 3-0 winners of Chester-le-Street United on Tuesday night.

The victory sent Clark’s side through to the Second Round of the Durham County Challenge Cup, as goals from Junior Mondal, Joe Gibson and Will Harris did the damage.

Clark was happy with the display and the result but was also pleased to see a blend of youth and experience on show during the triumph.

“It was fantastic to get some minutes into some of the lads who haven’t had a lot of game time recently, that was important for them,” Clark explained.

“It was also brilliant to be able to integrate some of the young players in with the seniors too because that’s crucial experience for them as they continue to develop.

“There were some really good performances out there, considering a lot of the lads were teenagers, so it was a positive night for the Club in that regard.

“It was just a shame for Jake Toase to pick up what looked a nasty injury to his collarbone late on and we’re wishing him the very best in his recovery from that.

“Overall, I was pleased with the team display. The attitude of all the players was very good, we knocked the ball about quite well at times despite the conditions and scored some good goals.

“Massive credit to Chester-le-Street United, because they also tried to play in the right way, and it was good to see that they never stopped throughout the night.”
