Preview: Moors v Curzon Ashton

We turn the spotlight on the weekend action with a comprehensive preview of Curzon Ashton’s National League North visit to The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor Town v Curzon Ashton
National League North
Saturday 9th November 2024, 3pm
The Brewery Field

The Opposition
Curzon Ashton remain fourth in the National League North table but missed the chance to move joint top when they were surprisingly beaten at home by Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday evening.

Craig Mahon’s men have got off to an encouraging start to the new campaign and are firmly established as promotion candidates on the back of a fine run of form.

The Nash won their first three games of 2024/25 to set the tone, and they underlined their credentials a fortnight ago when they thumped fancied Chester 4-0 at Tameside.

Having finished seventh but fallen at the play-off hurdle last term, optimism is growing among supporters that this could the year they negotiate a path into the fifth tier.

Previous Meeting
Honours were even over two games in 2023/24 as Moors avenged a 2-1 defeat at The Brewery Field last November by running out 3-0 winners at Tameside Stadium in March.

Finley Shrimpton, Corey McKeown and Rob Ramshaw were all on target as Graeme Lee’s men continued their brilliant run of form during the run-in at Curzon’s expense.

Ben Tomlinson will be the man in the middle for Saturday’s encounter at The Brewery Field, and he will be assisted by Connor Scott and Ryan Coulson. Matthew East is the Fourth Official this weekend.
