We turn the spotlight on the weekend action with a comprehensive preview of South Shields’ FA Trophy Second Round visit to The Brewery Field.
Spennymoor Town v South Shields
FA Trophy Second Round
Saturday 16th November 2024, 3pm
The Brewery Field
The Opposition
South Shields will be keen to get back on track this weekend after they suffered a disappointing 4-0 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday night.
The midweek setback saw them fall to 15th in National League North but the congested nature of the table means they remain just five points outside the top seven.
Elliott Dickman was given the top job at The 1st Cloud Arena on a permanent basis during the summer after an encouraging spell in temporary charge came close to taking The Mariners into the play-offs last term.
However, they will need to find greater consistency if they’re to challenge again this term having won seven and lost nine of their 17 league outings so far in a rollercoaster league campaign.
Previous Meeting
South Shields completed a National League North double over Moors last term, following up a 5-2 success at The Brewery Field with a 2-0 win on home soil.

Both managers can name five substitutes this weekend and they are able to use all five at any time throughout the 90 minutes.
