Moors have now handed over a huge number of toy and gift donations to a local charity after another successful initiative to benefit the community.
This Christmas the Club has linked-up with Team Solan Connor Fawcett Cancer Trust for their annual toy appeal – and Moors fans have excelled in their donations this time around.
Dozens of toys and parcels were delivered to The Brewery Field by kind-hearted supporters for us to pass on to Team Solan who will ensure they reach local families who need them most this Christmas.
“This is the biggest single donation of toys we’ve ever had,” said Team Solan charity founder, Mark Solan when he came to collect the haul on Thursday morning.
“I am never surprised by the generosity of the people of Spennymoor, but this has really overwhelmed me and it’s going to make such a difference to families in the town and across County Durham.
“I am very thankful to the Club for helping us ensure that this year’s appeal has been among the most successful we’ve ever organised, and I can’t wait to see the smiles these gifts will bring to so many different faces this Christmas.”
The appeal was boosted last weekend when the Men’s First Team squad and management staff all donated a toy before the National League North fixture against Leamington.
“We’re really proud to have been part of such a fantastic initiative,” admitted Moors’ Managing Director, Ian Geldard.
“Through Moors in the Community we try to have a meaningful impact across our area right throughout the year, but it becomes especially important over the festive period.
“To be able to donate as many toys and gifts as this to Team Solan’s appeal is very humbling and we are just so thankful to everyone who was able to bring something.
“Team Solan do some magnificent work, and I am certain that all of these donations can help make Christmas better for many North East Families this year.”
