Moors Ladies will try again to get their New Year underway when they make the trip to face league-leaders Pontleland United on Sunday (2.30pm kick-off).
Brent Smithson’s side have been hit by a number of postponements so far in 2025 and have now been without a competitive fixture since a 4-0 win at York in mid-December.
Ponteland have made the most of other sides being without games to storm to the top of the table on the back of a 4-1 thumping of South Shields and a 2-0 triumph at Hull United.
The hosts are aiming to complete a league double over Moors after enjoying a 1-0 victory when the teams met at The Brewery Field earlier in the campaign.
Moors will have their work cut out to put a stop to the home side’s momentum, but Smithson says he’s seen a real determination from his players in training this week.
“It’s been tough for the girls to have gone so long without a game, and I know they are all excited to get back out on the pitch,” he told us.
“We’ve trained well, and I can sense a real focus among the players and that’s what they will need to take with them into Sunday’s game.
“It was a tight game when we met each other at the beginning of last month and I wouldn’t expect it to be any different this time – but hopefully we can come out on top.”
Sunday’s game is a 2.30pm kick-off and takes place at Ponteland Leisure Centre on Callerton Lane where fans are welcome to go along and watch.
