We turn the attention to Saturday afternoon’s action with a full and in-depth preview of our FA Trophy quarter-final trip to The VBS Community Stadium.
Sutton United v Spennymoor Town
FA Trophy Quarter-Final
Saturday 1st March 2025, 3pm
VBS Community Stadium
The Opposition
Sutton United sit 13th in the National League having returned to the fifth tier for 2024/25 after spending three seasons in League Two.
The South London outfit saw off Ebbsfleet United and Tamworth before nudging past Kidderminster Harriers in the last round to set up Saturday’s meeting with Moors.
However, that 1-0 triumph at Aggborough was the last time The Us tasted victory having drawn two and lost two in the National League since then – with the two losses both coming against North East opposition in Gateshead and Hartlepool United.
Previous Meeting
The sides have only met once previously and that was also in the FA Trophy when Sutton United visited The Brewery Field back in January 2019.
On that occasion, Moors enjoyed an emphatic win as a double from Glen Taylor and another from Andrew Johnson ensured a memorable 3-0 triumph.
Referee
James Durkin will be the man in the middle for Saturday’s FA Trophy tie at Sutton, and he will be assisted by Stuart Butler and Daniel Flynn. Morgan Conn will be the Fourth Official.
Competition Rules
Both sides are permitted to name seven substitutes for Saturday’s FA Trophy tie, of which five can be used at any time throughout the 90 minutes.
If the game is all-square at 90 minutes, then it will go straight to a penalty shootout without the need for extra time or a replay.
