Ladies In Action At Brewery Field On Sunday

Moors Ladies will be keen to build on a brilliant away win last weekend when they return to The Brewery Field to host title-chasing Bradford City on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

Brent Smithson’s side enjoyed a wonderful 2-0 victory at Wallsend Boys Club last time out to continue to close the gap on the top four in the NERWFL Premier Division.

Their next challenge comes against a Bantams outfit that ran out 3-0 winners when Moors made the trip to West Yorkshire earlier in the campaign.

City sit second in the table ahead of Sunday’s clash – however, they are just five points behind leaders Ponteland United and have five games in hand so will fancy their chances of finishing the season on top.

“We had a threadbare squad when we travelled to Bradford earlier in the season and that made it really difficult for us,” admitted Smithson.

“With a fuller squad, I am hoping we can do ourselves more justice this time around and our good form over the last six games will certainly give us confidence going into Sunday.

“There’s no doubt Bradford are a good side. They are pushing for promotion and are one of the best we’ve come up against this season so it’s certain to be a tough game for us.

“But being back at The Brewery Field in front of our own supporters always gives the players such a big boost so I am hoping a large crowd can turn up to inspire them this weekend.”

Smithson will remain without influential skipper Autumn Colledge who is still working her way back to fitness after injury, while Katy Hemmingway is also unavailable for selection.

Fans can buy tickets for Sunday’s game online in advance right now or simply pay by cash or card on the turnstiles ahead of kick-off.
