England Schoolboy Star Backed By Club

Moors Chairman Brad Groves and Director Bobby Taylor have supported young keeper Ryan Johnson by becoming his official England Schoolboys sponsor for 2025.

The talented teenager has been a regular in the England Under-18 Schoolboys squads and is set to be involved again for the SAFIB Centenary Shield fixtures in April.

Players in England’s Under-15 and Under-18 Schoolgirl and Schoolboy squads were tasked with finding personal sponsors to support their journey throughout the year.

As a result, Johnson has now secured a joint sponsorship from Groves’ company Procure Smart and Taylor’s TMC that covers the remainder of the international campaign.

The ESFA Player Sponsorship scheme sees a variety of benefits available for each player sponsor, and gives players the opportunity to seek sponsorship for their international journey, a useful skill to add to their CV.

“Ryan’s involvement in the England Schoolboys squads is a source of pride for everyone connected to the Club,” explained Taylor.

“We wanted to do something which underlined our support for the fantastic progress he’s making and becoming his Player Sponsor was the ideal gesture.

“Ryan is gaining invaluable experience not only with England Schoolboys but also from being in and around our senior team this season and it’s brilliant to watch him prosper.

“Everyone at the Club is wishing him every success for the upcoming fixtures in the Centenary Shield and we can’t wait to cheer him and his teammates on.”

The England U18 Schoolboys’ squad was selected in January after a rigorous three-stage trials process.

February half term saw the England Schoolboys travel to St George’s Park for their preparatory training camp, provided by inspiresport, which also saw them play two further friendly fixtures against the Independent Schools’ FA and Wigan Athletic, after already facing the Australian Schoolboys back in January.

They will round-off their campaign with a fixture against Wales at Macclesfield on Friday 11th April before travelling to play Republic of Ireland on Thursday 24th April at Athlone Town.

Moors fans will be able to watch the action live on ESFA’s YouTube Channel, where all home fixtures are streamed. Tickets for games can be purchased by clicking here.
