Smithson Steps Down As Ladies Manager

The Club is welcoming applications for the role of Ladies First Team Manager after Brent Smithson informed us of his decision to stand down at the end of the season.

Smithson took charge in difficult circumstances last summer and has presided over another successful campaign during which the Ladies have once again been competitive in the NERWFL Premier Division.

The past year has also seen the Club’s commitment to Ladies football underlined with the enhancement of the set-up to include a Reserves and a Development Team.

“This has been an incredible difficult decision and not one I have taken lightly,” explained Smithson.

“This is a Club that is really investing in the growth of the Ladies section and this has seen the creation of two new adult teams this year and plans in the pipeline to improve even more next season.

“I also want to thank all the supporters, sponsors and volunteers who continue to contribute to the success of the Club.

“I have no plan to coach or manage any other teams. I think now is the right time to take some time away to focus on my commitments with work and my family.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of this team’s development over the last three years, and I consider myself lucky to have coached some amazing people.

“The backroom staff and players have been magnificent this year in the face of so much adversity and that makes the decision to step away even more difficult.”

The role is voluntary and those interested and suitably qualified should send an application to [email protected]
