It’s Junior Mondal’s turn to face our Firsts and Lasts questions this afternoon as we get to know the summer signing a little better.
Firsts
What was the name of your first pet?
Edgar. It was a dog, a Border Terrier. We had him when I was really young, but he was class.
What was your first car?
It was an Audi A1. It was really nice, I liked it. I was only about 17 or 18 at the time so it was good, but it had a black box fitted to keep an eye on me! Haha!
What was your first holiday abroad?
Off the top of my head, I think we went away to Spain somewhere, but I can’t remember exactly where it was.
What was the first gig you went to see?
I haven’t really been to a lot over the years, but I do remember going to see Drake in Birmingham once.
What was the first match you went to see?
It would have been a Middlesbrough game from when I was really young, but I can’t remember who it was against. I started going when I was about 8.
Who was your first best friend?
It was a lad called Jack Martin, who was a school friend. We’ve kept in touch a lot over the years, and I would still count him as my best mate now.
Who is the first person in your phone book?
It’s my Auntie Ruth. I keep in touch with her quite regularly and she’s top of the phone book as I have her saved as ‘Auntie Ruth’!
When was the first time you realised you might turn pro?
It was probably when I was about 15 and playing in the Academy at Middlesbrough. I felt like I was making good progress and all the feedback from coaches was really positive.
What was your first match as a pro footballer?
I only really played friendlies when I was at Middlesbrough so my first proper game in senior football was when I went to Forest Green Rovers. I remember feeling a mix of nerves and excitement!
Who was your first football manager?
Mark Curtis. He was in charge of Boro Rangers when I was playing in the youth leagues in Teesside as a kid. He was really good and think he’s still with Rangers now.
What was the first mobile phone you owned?
Haha, some kind of Nokia one. I can’t remember what the model was called, it was just one of those brick ones and I had to share it with my sister too.
Lasts
What is the last thing you watched on TV?
Power. I have watched all of that before, but the new series has just started quite recently so I was watching that last night.
What was the last thing that made you laugh?
Nathan McGinley. It will have been something he’s done or said that made me laugh – he’s a funny guy!
What was the last thing you bought?
I bought a new tracksuit fairly recently. I usually go for Nike tracksuits.
What is the last thing you took a photo of?
Haha, I actually took a picture of my breakfast the other day, just to show everyone how healthy it was!
What is the last thing you ate?
Do you know what, I haven’t had anything to eat so far today. So the last thing I had was some cereal last night.
What is the last thing you drank?
Water. I drink quite a lot of water, or I try to anyway, because it’s important.
Who is the last person you spoke to on the phone?
My mam. I was just on the phone to her before doing this. It was just a general catch-up really, I speak to her quite regularly on the phone.
What was the last football match you went to (where you weren’t playing)?
I don’t tend to go and watch matches too often. In terms of the last time, I can’t even remember – it will definitely have been a Middlesbrough game, but I can’t recall it.
What was the last film you watched?
I watched Terrifier 3 the other night. It’s meant to be a horror, but I have to be honest, I didn’t think it was the best. It’s only just come out at the cinema, so me and my mate went to watch it, but we probably wished we hadn’t!
Who was the last person to text you?
Haha, it was my mam. She texted me to say she was going to give me a call! Ha!
