Moors have enjoyed a helping hand from across the pond as the Clubs puts in place its final preparations for the first home friendly of pre-season on Tuesday night.
A group of youngsters from Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas are currently visiting the region, and they popped along to The Brewery Field on Monday to help us get the stadium looking perfect.
With Bishop Auckland our visitors in midweek for the first outing on home soil of pre-season, the team of children and their guardians set about cleaning seats in our stands ready for supporters on Tuesday.
It’s part of a bi-annual visit to the United Kingdom, during which up to 300 children perform concerts across various venues as well as undertake community projects.
“We come to the UK every two years, and we always have a fantastic time,” explained group leader, Josh Palmer.
“Last year we did Hawaii and we’ve done areas in the north of the US in the past, but this year we’re in the north of the UK and we’ve already visited Edinburgh, York and Newcastle.
“The kids do singing and dancing concerts in the places we visit and then go out and talk to the people afterwards, but we also do three Service Days around the town too.
“There are 22 groups similar to this one and we got assigned to come here to Spennymoor Town, so it’s been amazing to help out and meet all the people here.
“On ministry days like this we also go out and do a carnival to bring the local kids out, have some fun and also share some hope.
“We’ve got a concert at Jubilee Park on Monday night, so we’d love to see as many people as possible come down and see us!”
The 300-strong choir will perform as part of a free event in Jubilee Park on Monday evening at which visitors will also be able to enjoy food, games and other music too.
