Moors Ladies have further bolstered their squad ahead of the new NERWFL Premier Division campaign with the arrival of striker Ellie Smith.
Having come through the pathway at Durham Cestria, Smith progressed into the Club’s Academy and then starred for Durham Reserves.
The forward also gained experience from a short spell with Consett but has now linked up with Moors Ladies and scored in their friendly win over Norton & Stockton Ancients last week.
“I really enjoyed that first game for the Club and was buzzing to get my first goal,” Smith told us.
“I’m the kind of striker who likes to make forward runs, score goals and hopefully create some chances for my teammates too.
“It’s exciting to be part of Spennymoor Town now and I am just really looking forward to playing my part in the team pushing on in the Premier Division this season.”

Smith is the fifth new face to arrive at The Brewery Field this summer following the signings of Meg Elliott, Sophie Hodgson, Philippa Hunter and Yazmin Robinson.
“Ellie gives us an additional attacking option going into the new season,” explained Moors Ladies boss Stephen Durrant.
“She has already got herself on the scoresheet during pre-season with the winning goal against Norton so hopefully she can carry that momentum forward now.
“We’re really focusing on finding the right players to fit the culture we’re trying to build here, and Ellie certainly ticks the boxes on that front, so we’re delighted she’s signed.”
