Moors are delighted to announce enhanced arrangements for the management of the club’s youth set-up, with the creation of a new Community Interest Company (CIC).
The Club has worked closely with a committee of coaches and volunteers within the long-running youth structure to launch Spennymoor Town Youth Football Club CIC, which will take over day-to-day operations of the youth set-up in the coming season.
A partnership agreement has been signed by Moors Managing Director Ian Geldard and Chairman of Spennymoor Youth Gareth Richards, to ensure the continuation of close working relationships between the youth and the other elements of the Club going forward.
Boasting over 30 teams and comprising of 350 children and young people from U7s to U18s, Spennymoor Youth will now be given the platform to thrive under the direction of people with the perfect experience and knowledge.
“The new company will work hand-in-hand with the Club but will have full autonomy over all of the youth affairs,” explained Geldard.
“We have a great network of volunteer coaches and those are the people who are closest to it on a day-to-day level who can back the investment we’ve made in the youth over the last 10 years.
“There are fantastic opportunities for young people in and around Spennymoor, so it’s right that the next chapter of that is led by the people who have been with us on the journey.”
Youngsters within the system will continue to benefit from the connection with Moors, with free Season Tickets provided to all players and coaches for our Men’s First Team games during 2025/26.
The Youth FC will have access to the Club’s Service-Level Agreement with Whitworth Park Academy for use of their state-of-the-art 4G pitch and also be able to take advantage of key partners, such at Motif8 Embroidery and Teamwear.
“The Club has done a great job with running the youth section up to this point,” Richards told us.
“The opportunity we now have to take this forward with the group I have means we can go right into the nuances of what the kids need and really improve what we’re offering.
“The people around me have different expertise to bring so I am just so excited about what we can do, and it can only be good for both parties.”Moors are delighted to announce enhanced arrangements for the management of the club’s youth set-up, with the creation of a new Community Interest Company (CIC).
