Jenny Priestley Earns First Team Call-Up

Prolific striker Jenny Priestley has been promoted to Moors Ladies’ First Team for the new season after being one of the stars in last term’s success for the Reserves.

The forward smashed home some 23 goals as Moors Ladies Reserves won both promotion and the League Cup in their first campaign since formation.

As a result, Priestley has now become the first player to make the transition from Reserves to First Team, making the step up to join Stephen Durrant’s senior squad for 2025/26.

“Jenny came to us as an ambitious player who was hungry to succeed,” explained Reserves boss Jonny Flynn.

“Her strong hold up play, and hard work both on and off the ball allowed her to score an impressive 23 goals in her first season, including the winner in the League Cup Final.

“Using the Club’s successful player pathway platform, Jenny will now progress from the to the First Team and we’re delighted for her.

“Although we’re sorry to lose her, we all know Jenny has earned this move and we’re confident she can make the step up and continue to show her qualities.”

Having placed an emphasis on providing a genuine pathway for talented young girls in our area to develop and improve, it is hoped many more players can follow in Priestley’s footsteps in the coming years.

“After the recent showcase game between the First Team and Reserves at The Brewery Field, it’s great to see the pathway in action like this,” said Moors Ladies Manager, Durrant.

“Having been such an important player for the Reserves and producing so many superb performances last season, she’s truly earned the step up and hopefully we can see her prosper further in 2025/26.”

Priestley added: “I’m really looking forward to stepping up from the Reserves and it does feel like my hard work has paid off.

“I am excited to join the players and the staff ahead of the new Premier Division campaign and I want to play my part but also continue to develop further individually throughout the season.”

Moors Ladies’ next game is at The Brewery Field on Sunday 17th August when they play host to Middlesbrough U23s in their last pre-season friendly. Kick-off is 3pm and admission is £3 for adults and free for youngsters under 12.
