We turn the focus on Saturday’s action with a comprehensive preview of our National League North trip to The MGroup Stadium (3pm kick-off).
Oxford City v Spennymoor Town
National League North
Saturday 23rd August 2025, 3pm
The MGroup Stadium
The Opposition
Oxford City are now into their second season at this level having been relegated from the National League at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
The Hoops had reached the fifth tier after a glorious 4-0 thrashing of St Alban’s City in the Final of the National League South play-offs.
City took their time to adjust to life at the lower level last term but improvement during the second half of the season saw them finish comfortably above the bottom four.
This season has been a mixed bag so far – they lost at AFC Fylde on the opening day before defeating Macclesfield last weekend before drawing 1-1 at Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday.
Previous Meeting
Corey McKeown’s goal just before half time was enough to secure three points for Moors in a 1-0 win over Oxford City when the sides met at The Brewery Field on the final day of last term.
While the victory wasn’t enough to nudge Graeme Lee’s men into the play-off positions, it did help avenge the 3-0 defeat suffered at Oxford just before Christmas last term.
Referee
Jason Porter will take charge of Saturday’s encounter at Oxford City, and he will be assisted by Russell Jones and Manny Chandwani. Daniel Smith is the Fourth Official.
