Youngsters Ready For FA Youth Cup Trip

Moors’ youngsters have been encouraged to make the most of a special opportunity when they begin their FA Youth Cup campaign at Workington on Friday evening.

Excitement is building ahead of the First Round Qualifying tie at Borough Park and coach Mark McGinley has urged the players to do themselves justice.

“The lads are really excited to be involved in this competition and are determined to do the Club and its supporters proud,” he told us.

The FA Youth Cup is a prestigious competition, and it’s something the boys have spoken about since the start of last season.

“They’ve waited a long time for this opportunity and can’t wait to get going.”

Moors made it through to the Third Round Qualifying stage last term before falling to a 2-0 defeat to AFC Fylde at The Brewery Field.

Now McGInley is hoping this year’s journey can provide more memories for all involved, though he knows the assignment that awaits at Workington is a tough one.

“Being drawn against Workington AFC, a top club steeped in history makes the occasion even more special,” he admitted.

“Playing at Borough Park will be a fantastic experience for our lads, and we’re looking forward to what we hope will be a memorable night for everyone involved.”

The Borough Park tie kicks-off at 7.30pm.
